The title of this story caught my eye and then the cover sealed the deal and I knew I had to have it. And the inside is just as stunning as the outside! This story gave me Guillermo del Toro mixed with Lewis Carroll vibes and if that doesn’t convince you to read it then I don’t know what will. I just love dark, gritty horror adjacent fairytales like this! 

Shockingly this was my first time reading this and I wish I had read it years ago because it’s bloody brilliant and I fucking LOVED it! 

THIS WAS SO GOOD. I was instantly hooked and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out what would happen. AND THAT ENDING. Jaw dropped. 

I never say no to a book about cults and this one was a good one! Learnt some me facts that were incredibly horrifying yet incredibly interesting.  

So. Fucking. Good. Nothing else needs to be said, just do yourself a favour and read this book and thank me later. 

I was really in to this story until about halfway through when it kind of just lost me. Things got a little too complicated for my liking and then the ending was a big disappointment for me too. 

While I didn’t love this as much as Jackson’s other work I’ve read I can still absolutely appreciate the complex and interesting characters she created. It’s still a good read, just not my favourite by her. 

This book is why I don’t talk to my neighbours. Kidding aside, I fucking LOVED this book. It was dark and sinister as fuck and I adored it. Some parts were just so damn creepy, I found myself wanting to look over my shoulder and make sure I was alone. Seriously dug the cult-y vibes too! 

I was so worried this would pale in comparison to the first because I loved the first so damn much. But thankfully that worry was unfounded and it was absolutely brilliant. I just love this world and these characters so much, I could truly stay immersed in it forever. Just so beautiful and heartwarming, I can’t recommend this book and this series highly enough!
