A tragic beautiful prime example of art as resistance. Art as rebellion. Art as a challenge.

This book had a very slow start, in such a way that I had a hard time connecting to and caring about the characters. And then all of the sudden it turned into a rebel spy plot with torture and killing? A weird mix of cozy beginning and thriller-esque ending. I liked the characters, but I didn’t really care about them. And should I have guessed the end based on perspectives we didn’t get?

Cute. I liked the intersection of real life and dream life. I almost wish there was more of a solid through line. Like each chapter dealt more solidly with different themes. It did end up like that in the last few chapters I just wish it had been that way for more of the book
