This one turned out to be so great! I love the characters, their personalities really shine and they work well together. The pacing was also very good in my opinion. My only real complaint is that the kidnapping from early on in the book wasn’t mentioned almost at all afterwards and that just don’t make sense, they characters should have been at least thinking about it for a while.

I tried to make this baby last because I love this series so much. These Naga men are just the cream of the crop!

Celeste was an interesting lead and I enjoyed seeing things through her view, especially all the interactions she had with her team and other humans. She’s a real boss lady and cares for those under her and I appreciate that. When her men wouldn’t listen to her it was irritating though. I don’t know how many times she had to say the words “I’m Captain”

Zhallaix is a dark and brooding male lead, something I adore. Every once of sweetness we see from him is squeezed out with great for and I loved seeing it. His lines are some of my favorites. The way his interacted with Celeste’s men was great as well. I appreciate how his background also broadens the views of this world, bringing more to light. While it’s not the giant info dump we got in the last book, it’s still enough to keep me seriously interested.

The world of this series is one of my favorites of any Sci-Fi romance I’ve read, it’s darker than most and things feel very real, like this is a future that could actually occurs which makes the info we find out on each book feel weightier.

Such a sweet little story, very short and easy to enjoy quickly. There was a hint of darker themes within the prison that I always enjoy in Ruby’s writing. She touches on death and rape and such in ways that are very palatable while also giving the intensity they require.

Jutari is a giant sweetheart even though he’s a murderous criminal and I’m so here for it. Chloe is also very smart and strong willed, I loved that in her.

I’m happy to go on to the rest of this series.

This was like a cookie, sweet sweet sweet.

An easy and comforting read.

The characters don’t have much in the personality department, but it didn’t make the book hard to read. It’s so short and there were other things to focus on. Mostly I was interested in the world of the elite of this society and there was plenty talked about in that regard.

Short, sweet, cute, and easy to read. No drama really between the couple which is nice, and they seem like a perfect match. The spicy scenes weren’t as good as I had hoped, but the lead up to the spice was really nice.

My favorite in this series so far! The couple are both very distinct characters with understandable personalities and quirks. They work really well together, each buffing out the other’s rough edges. The way their physical relationship started was achingly sweet, but the rest was hot hot hot! I appreciate that desperate love making type of sex, just the undeniable need for the other person that clouds all logic.

One of Ruby’s best! If I do say so myself.

I adored Kim almost immediately, her naïveté and innocence mixed with the worries of being “too old” for a human mate made her into a lovable mess that I just wanted to be friends with. Nassakth was harder to love, but he redeemed himself in the middle of the book and from then on I was hooked. The two of them together is a perfect match. Kim has all the patience in the world for her man and is gentle while still being brave and fierce, she suits him perfectly. Nassakth also displays tons of patience and gentleness and quite a bit of empathy that I think he gained from his time as a slave, he’s a gentle giant with a stern and refined nature.

Lots of drama going on, lots of Bethiah as well, but it all felt well paced for this couple specifically. They needed things to work through I think. I appreciated learning about praxiians more in this one even if it doesn’t shine a good light on their society and customs. The epilogue was wholesome and adorable. ❤️❤️❤️

This is a cute story and I enjoy the leads. I would have liked more action, just a little more excitement… but overall, good book.

The best thing this book did is make me curious about the rest of the crew, so I’m glad to be going into the rest of the series.
