致所有我曾爱过的男孩 by Jenny Han

I absolutely loved it. I listened to the audiobook (my first audiobook, btw) and I completely enjoyed it. It was light, fun to listen to and much better than the movie.
Hazards of Time Travel by Joyce Carol Oates

Hazards of Time Travel has a great premise, but ultimately it just fell flat for me. The book starts off with a lot of technical babble about the various departments and security forces that control future America, along with several acronyms and initialisms. It was like reading a textbook and had to memorize the different names and their meanings for a test. It got boring fast.
The writing style is also difficult to get used to. It felt like I was reading FBI files. Sentences were short and often missed words. The world building also fell flat, as we don't spend enough time in the future. The whole book just read funny. I might be missing the point with the social commentary, but this book could have been better. This didn't strike me as a book written to poke fun at other YA dystopians. It was too serious - or maybe not serious enough.

This book was brilliant. I enjoyed every single aspect of this. This book made me feel like I was watching The Incredibles (my all-time favourite superhero movie), even though the plot differs entirely, it just had that superhero vibe. Like Spiderman: Homecoming or Teen Titans. It's creative and out of the box and I just loved it.
The book is also insanely funny. I love a good one-liner and this book is full of it. Simonds has a way of describing action scenes and events that just brings them to life. I could see this book playing out in my mind's eye like I was reading a comic book.
I also really loved the found-family aspect of the book. This is not your typical take on a superhero story and I definitely recommend this book to EVERYONE. If you're looking for something fresh and exciting, funny and heartwarming, this book is it.
