Reading the first few chapters I was having mixed feelings and wasn't sure I would like this book (especially after the rape scene blindsided me) but I really wanted to give it a chance because I like the author, and by the end I was so glad I didn't put it down. I ended up really appreciating this book and will definitely read anything else the author writes!
The goofy shit with the main character repeatedly bringing up fanfic/fandom was a bit offputting but the story was overall quite good; definitely the type of existential horror that gets under my skin and sticks with me for a while.
