I liked it, and I really want to see where we go from here. There's a lot of potential but overall, I wish there was a little bit more. Especially POVs!

I think this one was a little bit more in the middle. It wasn't good or bad. I really wanted more in the end. I think they will appear in later books so there's potential to get some updates. The whole universe setup seems really interesting to me and can't wait to get into it more.

It wasn't bad and it was consistent all the way through. I just think things slowed down here compared to the first book and I wish things picked up a little bit. There are some big reveals in here and some crazy WTH moments, but they were kind of far between in here. I wish we had more groveling and bullying angles. Plus, Colt, I kind of wish he would've held out a little bit more because I loved the tension and the whole will they or won't they. The book really needed some of that tension to last a little longer.

I think it was a solid start to the trilogy and left me wanting more. It does fall into the place where their technically in high school but totally living lives that are way older than their supposed ages. They're just doing things that I feel are more college-age than high school. But either way, I really liked the kick-off to this new trilogy.

Cole has a way of writing tragic love stories. This is the second or third book I've read by Carian Cole so far and it has the same vibes as the previous book, but I was hooked on this one more. It's unusual for me to love a single POV story plus it being a slow-paced book, but this one was really good. It is a really sad story, and it spans a very long time in the story. I would go into it as blind as possible but also know it is a sadder story and deals with a lot of heavy themes.

There were things in this one that I loved and had a hard time putting down, but then there was just as much, if not more, that I struggled with. It was hard to stay in this one, and I'm not entirely sure if it was the book's fault or my slowly falling into a book slump. I wish we had the harem's POVs not just Avery's but that's been a pet peeve since the first book. Then I wish the drama at the beginning of the book with the camp played out throughout the book along with going out and scavenging. It just felt like the first part of the book and the second part were a bit disconnected. Plus, we don't see a lot of zombies/infected in here, our big enemies here are other humans being truly terrible. I'm just ready to start wrapping up and heading towards HEA.

I'm just going to leave this one here. I just don't think this series was for me. I really missed the college vibes and wanted it to go back to that school chaos but it felt like they were trying to stuff everything in here that things were just constantly getting overshadowed.
