I’ve read and loved other books by Tananarive Due but this one just didn’t grab me like their other work. For most of the book I was just indifferent and a little bored even. I didn’t dislike it per se but it just didn’t do anything for me story wise. 

This story has absolutely fascinated me since I first heard of it and I’ve devoured anything and everything about it that I can get my hands on. It’s just such a wild and unbelievable story. I don’t think we’ll ever know what really happened and that’s what makes it so fascinating to me. I couldn’t have enjoyed the deep dive into this weird and puzzling story more! 

As usual, Ann Rule never fails to write a true crime story that will have me hooked! This one isn’t my favourite of hers that I’ve read but it’s definitely not amongst her worst either. This was such a sad and brutal story, I always find it hard to swallow how awful human beings can be and the terrible acts they commit towards one another. 

Not my favourite story by this author but definitely not his worst either. I enjoyed it much more than my last read by him, this is more what I’ve come to expect from his work. It’s fucked up and weird and gruesome and funny and that’s exactly why I pick up this authors work! 

This one actually HURT me to read. I so love Oyeyemi’s writing and had such high hopes for this story but I struggled to even finish it, let alone enjoy it. If I didn’t know better I’d think it was written by another author because it doesn’t read like any of her other writing and was such a disappointment for me. 

I’ve often asked myself the very same questions the author asks herself so I was incredibly intrigued by this read. It’s an interesting debate and one that’s hard to come up with a right answer to, it’s not a black and white area but rather quite grey. I quite enjoyed this read and definitely recommend if you’ve ever asked yourself how or when to separate the art from the artist. 

I wanted so badly to love this book but it just didn’t capture me like I wanted it to. I had high hopes for it, the concept and plot line sounded SO good. Plus, look how damn gorgeous the cover is! But what was missing here for me was characters. There were just none that I fell in love and wanted to root for or even a character I loved to hate. None of them made me want to get attached and that’s important for me when reading. I didn’t hate it either but I didn’t love it, I guess the right word to describe ny feelings is indifferent.

I had such high hopes for this and it ended up being so mediocre and meh, such a disappointment. There were some interesting bits but I was hoping for much more insight into the horror genre and what makes it so popular. 

Just as good as the first installment, if not better! I really enjoyed seeing this story brought into graphic novel form, the illustrations are just stunning.
