I would describe the book as beautiful, real & unapologetic. The emotions I felt while reading it were surreal. It's so well written it nearly brought me to tears. It shows complexity, pain and love in so many forms it is wonderful. I loved how there were nuances and grey areas to the characters and that they were portrayed as human, which is rare. The author did a wonderful job of portraying celebrities as real people who have real problems even if they are rich & famous. While the book is full of drama & twists, it's also a story about society's moral standards and of being a strong woman in a predominantly man's world. _____________

Evelyn's character was really complex. She was careless with the feelings of others and I didn't like some of the choices she made but I admired the way she did whatever it took to get what she desired. She was passionate, ambitious and most importantly she knew that she was flawed. She was human. There were many elements that made her character somewhat redeemable. Author’s liberal overtones created a good story & characters but, the almost romanticization of Assisted Suicide as "dignified death" just pretty much gave the green light for people who are suicidal to end their life and for people who think that death is preferable than needing aid and support. Monique also says that she wants to "give a voice" to physician assisted suicide support group, and I can't wrap my head around this idea. I don't think there is any need to be a voice for them. The plot twist was so predictable. I knew that Evelyn had something to do with Monique’s father’s death. But nonetheless I still enjoyed the novel. When Monique just walks away knowing that Evelyn was going to end her life it leaves a bad taste in my mouth and it was just too filmy. _____________
I'm giving it a 4.5 because even with my criticism I think that this book is great overall. I definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking for LGBTQ🏳️🌈 books.
The dialogues and writing style felt so juvenile and forced- It was like a fan fiction or a Wattpad story. It's like a heightened teen infatuation story involving adult characters who behave absolutely immature for the most part except when they're having segs. What Tate and Miles had was solely based on quick hookups and nothing substantial enough to even come close to legitimate feelings of love. The only kind of chemistry they seem to have is lust.
I didn't like how Rachel's character just took away Miles’s focus on Tate. It would've been nice to know more about Miles's feelings for Tate.
Tate was head over heels for a guy she had just met. I didn't like how Miles wouldn't even admit that he likes her and it made me so angry at times. I get the whole no strings attached thing but I just don't get why Tate was still with him. She had great potential to be a feminist icon and stand up to someone who's clearly using her but her self-respect was crushed so many times.
Also the kind of trauma and depression that Miles was going through was massive and all he needed was therapy and anyone could see that but the craziest part is that Tate, who is a registered nurse, couldn't see that.-
My only favourite character in the book was Cap. The ending was the only part that I liked in the entire book where miles's past was revealed. That was really heartbreaking and I found myself sympathising for him. I also liked it when Miles's poetic self came back to life in the end.
You can go for it if you want but overall I would describe this book as not worth the hype. However, I will give Colleen Hoover the benefit of the doubt and will definitely read her other novels!
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I firstly read the pdf of the book and after completing it i just knew- I have to buy my own copy, so I can hold onto it forever.❤️ It Ends With Us is a huge emotional rollercoaster. It made me laugh, it made me cry and sometimes both at once. Like legit BIG, FAT TEARS. I thought that it was like any other cheesy romance novel but i was totally wrong. It Ends With Us is phenomenal! It makes you fall in love, breaks your heart and forces you to reconsider your prejudged ideas about domestic abuse and violence.
(spoilers) I absolutely loved Ryle. (Initially obv) The very first scene in the book, on the roof.. it was my absolute favourite. The more I got into the story- the more his character grew on me until.. the incident occurred. I mean obv a toxic relationship is a straight up NO. I mean I've never felt this conflicted over a character before. My most fav character in the book was Atlas. His story gutted me at times. I initially didn't want his entry coz i was already in love with Ryle so he felt like a threat but.. what he and Lily had was so real and i was blown away by his commitment. Lily was a really strong character throughout the book and I loved her.
The part I didn't like was- the diary entries addressed to Ellen DeGeneres, coz they just felt so cringe & honestly I wanted to skip those.
The novel focuses on the ongoing war between science and religion for centuries. The thing i absolutely loved about the book is that it's all based on facts. It gives an exciting introduction to the world of conspiracy theories (before this book i had never even heard of Illuminati lol).😂🙈 This book is so exhilarating, thrilling, and imaginative! I love how the author has mixed scientific and religious elements perfectly.
I think you should definitely read it if you're a begginer. This book will definitely get you into mystery-thriller books. So if you're looking for something like that then i would highly recommend reading Angels and Demons. I'm giving it a 4.8 star rating because some of the plot twists are so predictable- though it didn't stop me from reading and was still very exhilarating. So yeah, apart from that the book is a real page turner!
Also, the movie based on the book sucks! I don’t think this counts as a con for the book, but still.. Don’t watch it. Especially not if you haven't read the book yet because then you might not even want to read it.
