The electronic hold took the book back so it's over for now. This has nothing to do with the quality and all to do with me having a hard time reading regularly.

This limited series sticks the landing with the final issue. If you ever wanted Dexter blended with Sylvanian Families, this one's for you.

One issue left and this series has been consistent, dark and twisted in the best ways. Highly recommended.

3rd Issue in and this series continues to deliver on its premise. Cozy vibes and graphic murder shouldn't blend as well as it does here.

The first issue of this limited series simultaneously provides a well rendered premise and endearing characters. And don't let the cutesy art fool you: there is graphic murder here. Wild and wonderful.

I love the world and the characters and this is a pretty good sequel. Liz Kerin called this the Night's Edge series in her acknowledgements and I would like more...and a TV show if that is what she's been pitching.

However, I really struggled with the narrative structure which alternates between Mia a few months ago and now, slowly building closer and closer in time. The first book did this between 2010 and now but that was more clear because Mia was a child vs adult. The morphing of this dynamic in the sequel to two really close periods of time was challenging and confusing, especially if you stop mid-chapter. I have aphantasia and dyslexia so maybe others will struggle less. The structure was a painful read and I didn't feel like it added much, apart from stylistically being similar to the first.

I still enjoyed the story and recommend it. I'd be curious if others didn't have any trouble with it. But I sure as hell did.

I am very much interested in where the story is going but I didn't think that much happened. Not enough bending, lots of political intrigue that I don't care about (which is me, not you, necessarily).

I will pick up the other volumes in a bit. I want to know how the official continuation of Korra ends, but I'm not immediately running for the next one either.

There's nothing really wrong with these comics. I get the general idea and appreciate them. I just wasn't enjoying them, which would be the case if anyone was reading their diary to me for long, so it's definitely not personal. It's the first Silver Sprocket release I haven't vibed with tho.
