As the NY Times put it: "Morbidly humorous." Not everyone will warm up to Dexter, but I did. Loved the TV series, and so far the books are equally enjoyable.

Another character developed by the authors, Preston & Child -- Gideon Crew. Gideon, is like a cross between James Bond, and Macgyver.

The storyline develops slowly from Gideon's childhood to present day. If you can get past the first third of the book, it is worth the read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's about Ellie, a search and rescue dog and her start from puppy to adult. The story is told from Ellie's perspective and being a dog owner myself, I could really relate to the "dog speak."

Historical fiction. Facts are true and all the places in the book are real -- only the characters are not.
Mount Dragon: A Pandemic of Apocalyptic Proportions by Douglas Preston, Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child

This book reads almost like the "Hot Zone." Probably because Douglas Preston is the brother of Richard Preston (the author of Hot Zone.)

Some pretty scary stuff -- genetically engineered viruses. If you've read the "Hot Zone," you'll probably like this book.

I'm not normally a fan of urban fantasy and paranormal, but this book really caught my attention. Unicorns, harpies, werewolves, witches, oh my! Sometimes it's good to step out of your reading comfort zone, and this book won't disappoint.

No as good as some of her other books.
