Heartbreak Boys by Simon James Green
4.0
Heartbreak Boys begins where a lot of teen romcoms end: the camp misfit has got together with the no-longer closeted jock and they are going to prom. But all is not right in this idyllic picture and very soon drama takes over.
Green then takes us and his two jilted protagonists on a road trip across the UK and a series of slightly ludicrous near disasters. Throughout social media and online popularity loom in the background, as the new "reality" in teenagers' lives.
The plot is a little silly but the Green is witty and amusing, while also adept at drawing a few tears from time to time.
