A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers
5.0
I always feel better and more hopeful after finishing a Becky Chambers novel, this being no different. As a lifelong tea nerd, I feel a strong affinity with the character of Sibling Dex. Their journey and struggle is the struggle of all humanity - Who am I? What is my purpose? What is the thing that brings meaning to my life?
I liken this book to the true message of Star Trek - if you have all your needs met, and humanity is at peace, what would you do with your life? How would you choose to explore the philosophical questions of life? What would your exploration be? In a world where you don’t struggle to survive, what would your struggle be?
I ache for a world like the one she creates in this novel. The time, support and resources to give and receive and just exist and explore my own humanity and the purpose of my life. This novel is beautiful and I want to create the world it supposes.
