West With Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge
4.0
Really enjoyed this book. Brought so many aspects of the dust bowl to life. Who knew that the air could catch fire? Loved the giraffes’ personalities and the way they protected and comforted the humans who wished them well.
The main characters were all interesting and well drawn. Liked that they seemed like very different people, but had a lot in common in the end (all damaged in different ways).
The “present-day” storyline held the narrative together well, but allowed for surprises. Finding out that Woody was writing the story down for Red’s daughter was a lovely surprise.
