The Alien King's Prey by Loki Renard

I think I had trouble clicking with this books because I couldn’t ever really tell what the characters wanted. Like the big evil king was hell bent on being ruthless and cruel… except that he actually wasn’t. The FL wanted a revolution and hated the king… except not really. I just didn’t really understand them and that made connecting with them hard AND that makes the spicy scenes suffer for me. I’d also prefer spice to include the characters talking rather than just walls of text describing the actions.
The writing itself is very lovely, and if you’re wanting a read that is very “shut off brain and enjoy” then this one is for you. Unfortunately doesn’t work well for me though.
