4.5⭐️ 3.5/5🌶️
MOOD: adventurous, emotional, funny, sad, lighthearted
TROPES: language barrier, forced proximity,
GENRES: sci-fi, fantasy
FAV QUOTE: "Oh wow, your stare is really penetrating. Do you want to penetrate anything else?" (This is said in her head and sarcastically)

MAIN CHARACTERS: Catalina Sanchez (human FMC) and Daemon (Aragnokan MMC)

This is the first M.L. Smith book that I've read and also the first in this series cause I decided to just jump right in at #5. I was not disappointed. There are two small reasons why this got 4.5 instead of 5 stars. I hate "honey" as a term of endearment; although Daemon says something towards the end of the book that almost makes up for that and all the spicy scenes are grouped together.

Overall, the world was really easy to get into and the dynamics between the characters work. Since this was my first introduction to Aragnokans, I found the similarities and differences between the males interesting. Cat and Daemon complement each other with their strengths and weaknesses and if you like your spicy scenes with size differences & dirty talk then there is plenty of that. I'm normally not a fan of late story/3rd act breakups or drama but the action in this story worked. I really hope that Sasha and Zypher get a book (I have a thing for both sassy women and shadow demon types apparently).

CW: Emotional abuse/manipulation, mentions of drug use, neglect/abuse by parent, torture, mentions of blood/injuries, kidnapping, mentions of war, brief mention of character death
