The Hanging Tree by Ben Aaronovitch
4.0
This is, I think, one of the better incarnations of the series. The plot is more straight-forward and believable than in other volumes and Aaronovitch is in fine form writing-wise (although the editor/proofreader who worked on this (if anyone did!) needs to thing about a career change: so many missing or repeated words!).
This is also the queerest book of the series so far (No 6). There has been mention of a gay character before (one of the members of Grant's father's band is gay), but this time we get a trans character and a pair of lesbians. In addition to a black lead, there are other ethnic minority characters, including a female muslim sidekick.
So woke! So fun! So much to like!
