Desire In His Blood by Zoey Draven
4.0
This is an excellent story with a very detailed world that feels new and familiar at the same time. I love the work and time the author takes in describing the world and the aliens and their customs to us, makes the experience very immersive.
Our leads are distinct and interesting characters which made their story much more fun to follow. Gemma is relatable in her struggles and how she deal with everything. Azur is a big scary heartthrob that is easy to love and hate at the same time. He’s complicated and grows on you more throughout the story, much like how Gemma falls for him.
I appreciate that the main story of this book is wrapped up nicely by the end while there is a side story that looks to be extended into future books, just makes me want to read more. Having something more than just romance in stories like this make them much more enjoyable for me.
My one complaint, and the reason this is 4 stars instead of 5, is that things really slow down in the middle which makes it harder to get through. I felt a little bored with how long the story is but how little was happening to move things along right in the middle. Not a huge flaw or anything, but one that definitely impacted my reading experience.
