Awakened by the Heir by Vilyn DeVine

2.0

2.5ish ⭐️s but like a low 2.5… I just didn’t enjoy it much. The romance is rushed by even my standards, and I’m a lover of insta-love and fated mates. The fact is the couple doesn’t even really talk to each other about anything other than being mates and the baby and their royal duties now, it makes their “love” feel so flat and lifeless which made the sex scenes hard to slog through.

There is also a lot of confusion… I just don’t understand HOW the weather works and how a baby completely unrelated to the royal family will solve anything. Also lots of confusion surrounding the issues between Hydor and Earth, how they discovered each other, WHY humans are needed to work… I mean it’s just said that the constant rains tire his people out, but why??? Is there something going on with their anatomy that makes it bad? No clue.

The main characters were very basic and lifeless as well, the FL was basically just a pregnant woman with an abusive baby daddy… and that’s her entire character. She says she loves books but that’s all we get about her and even that wasn’t really expanded on. The ML was… boring. Just a grumpy king turned into a protective lover… and even then he was a bit of a hypocrite because he was mad that the baby daddy wanted to “possess” the fl but HE HIMSELF immediately said she belongs to him… being rather possessive. It was just strange.
