Caveman Alien's Trick by Calista Skye
4.0
A fun addition to this series!
Phoebe is a good lead to follow, very relatable in her desires to return home and what seemed like some depression as well. It’s nice to watch her character blossom more as she finds ways to make herself useful and fulfilled. She’s smart and handy, but she’s also naive which just gets her into trouble and it’s kind of hilarious. A bit of an airhead at times.
Rax’tar is a male lead that I’m not personally fond of, but he suits the role he’s meant to play in the story and I can appreciate that. I’m not usually fond of the “I’m too cool for this” type of guys but that’s exactly what he is. The best moments is seeing him dropped down a peg and actually taking responsibility for his bad actions thanks to his feelings for Phoebe. He grows in some ways, but he remains cocky and keeps his character intact.
The story itself is more calm, much less action. Most of the action is at the end and it’s very rewarding. It makes this a more relaxing read for the most part and then the end is a nice little taste of intensity to finish things off. Things are really heating up on the story and moving along nicely. I really appreciate getting bits of lore like this.
