It’s a fine start to a series, but not the greatest. The fl is annoying… but kind of relatable? I feel like we don’t know enough about her to feel connected to… but her reactions to things are relatable, like flip flopping between which “character” she wanted to play in this situation. The other women seemed more interesting, especially Delyah who was my favorite. One reason I’ll read more is for their stories.

The world building was light and kind of confusing… like they didn’t give enough but also too much? Some things should have remained mysterious while others should be explained sooner. There is enough there that I want to keep reading though because I do find the world interesting.

Our ml is nice, interesting, sexy, but also kind of… dumb? I think it was suppose to represent the “caveman” element of this… but it just got annoying at some points. I guess I just prefer overly intelligent leads over the big kinda dense tough guys. I also prefer my men angrier, especially when it comes to the safety of their women, so his reaction to the women being in danger was tepid.

The first book in a series is hard to get right, I don’t think this really failed in it’s challenge though so 3 ⭐️s is fair in my mind.
