this was not a “be gay, do crime” sort of book. this was a story of two gay teenagers... in an obsessive relationship... love... toxic... delusional... murder... it was all perfectly and frustratingly told from the pov of an unreliable, insane narrator. it was a lot. it was phenomenal.
at times i was confused because of the complicated writing and tangents (hence the rating), but my confusion made me love the story even more, if that makes sense? i can see myself coming back to this and discovering stuff i missed the first time.
i knew paul and julian were fucked the moment paul confessed he killed beautiful things to keep them forever and julian stared at him with apprehension. i was just delulu (like them) and believed it would all work out...
