5⭐️ 3🌶️
MOOD: emotional, funny, lighthearted, hopeful
TROPES: touch him and die, age gap, grumpy/sunshine
GENRES: contemporary romance, supernatural romance, monster romance
VIBES & OTHER: himbo energy, demisexual rep, first time, hate everyone but not you
FAV QUOTE: I didn't tell him, because I was a no good, selfish, very bad man. Because he felt right inside my arms. And if I told him I was a monster, I didn't think he'd ever let me hold him again.
MAIN CHARACTERS: Felix Finley & Marshall Warden
TAROT CARD: The Emperor
THE GOOD: This is the third book I've read in the Tales from the Tarot series but the first from The Spooky Boys Universe (according to Fae's website this story does take place in that universe). This is an incredibly sweet and funny slow burn. I wouldn't label this story with the miscommunication trope but there are a few times where it's clear that Felix and Marshall are not speaking the same language. Similarly, it's not enemies to lovers but it does take some time for Felix to grow on Marshall or for Marshall to realize what his feelings actually mean. Yes, there's blood and violence and murder but in a cute, rom-com and adorable kind of way - if that makes sense.
THE NEUTRAL: As much as I 100% Marshall and his himbo serial killer ways - there are times when he's a little too oblivious and while he does acknowledge that it can get tedious.
THE MEH: The pizza delivery scene is a little cringe - I get it but that's why we don't learn everything on the internet, Marshall.
CW: blood, death, violence, sexual content (full list available on Fae Quin's website)
DISCLAIMER: I received an advance review copy. This is my honest review.
