i knew the basic premise of this book going into it, but i had no idea how viscerally it would hit me as a narrative about cycles of abuse & grooming. there were bits in it that i recognized from my own past that i've never seen written down by someone other than me before.
i really enjoyed it as a story, and gailey's writing is fantastic.i'll admit i was hoping martine would be allowed to kill the second nathan, too, and i wish it had shown enough of what the ending situation was like for her that i could feel happy for where she ended up with evelyn, but overall it was really interesting and engaging!
i really enjoyed it as a story, and gailey's writing is fantastic.
