Updated for 2023 reread: This remains one of my favorite stories, and the original is remarkable!
Obviously, this is not a new story by any means, and I was, like most people, already well aware of it by the time I decided to pick it up in it's original novel form. That said, I very much wanted to see what it was like in the original, and so I decided that I would read it to my family over the Christmas season, in order to get us all in the spirit. I don't think I need to bother with a long review, because you've probably already heard the story and know the messages contained within and how wonderful they are, so all I'll say is this: if you have the chance to, read the original version. It's charming, surprisingly funny in parts, and well worth your time.
Merry Christmas, and, as Tiny Tim put it: God bless us, every one!
