Henry—The Goose Who Got To Love by Amadeus Vultznick
5.0
Have a box of tissues ready! While I was aware of the story line, I was taken unawares of the emotions that this book would evoke. So many emotions!
Henry is a goose. An ugly one at that. Because of his deformities, he is ostracized by his peers. But Henry has accepted his differences and handicaps. Henry has grown accustomed to his somewhat hostile environment. After all, he is alive!
After reading the novella, there are a few takeaways. The first being acceptance. Accept that fact that everyone is different and that while you may not fit in because you look different or act different, we all have to accept one another. And be accepting of oneself.
The second takeaway is not to give up. Struggle if you have to, but always do your best with what you have.
The last takeaway I got from reading the novella is that you have to give love to get love. Love is there to experience and what better way to get the most out of your life than by giving love and receiving love in return.
Henry — The Goose Who Got to Love is a heartfelt tale that is sure to resonate with many readers. Though I don’t consider this novella to fit into the children’s fiction genre, it does contain some valuable life lessons for young readers.
The author, Amadeus Vultznick certainly has a talent expressing thoughts and emotions through his character. And he does it in a way that will pull at the readers’ heartstrings, leaving them to reexamine their own predispositions, and perceptions. Five moving stars.
I received a digital copy of the book from the author. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.
