The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas

5.0

*Edited with a proper review*

I don't think I have ever squealed at a book like this one. My cheeks literally hurt after reading the last 50% because I was grinning from ear to ear. I had never experienced that before; it was terrific. Instant five stars after just the first quarter of the book, and I read it in a little under 4 hours because you just can't put it down.

Aaron Blackford is my new favorite book boyfriend. He is so sweet, selfless, and always willing to help?! Of course, it doesn't hurt that he's also tall, got broad shoulders, and is a Clark Kent lookalike; what a win-win situation.

The romance in this book is just on another level. Aaron's and Catalina's relationship makes me feel all warm on the inside and somehow so incredibly lonely and jealous at the same time. It has the romance, the banter, the one-bed trope, the fake dating trope, slow burn, just the perfect amount of s m u t, and the perfect man written by a woman. Aaron notices the little things, cares about her wellbeing and her feelings from the start, and is just so, so selfless.
The scene on the football field with her family is just aaaaah. I love them. I want them. I need another book from Elena ASAP.

The Spanish Love Deception is supposed to be an "enemies to lovers" trope, which I strongly disagree with. Catalina does dislike Aaron, and she thinks that the feeling is mutual, but it's so clear to the readers that he does not return that feeling of despair being near her. That is the only thing I can say about this book that I do not entirely agree with because they're just not enemies at all. Catalina doesn't like him because she finds him annoying and some misunderstanding from a couple of years ago.

This book has its flaws. It starts a little slow and annoying as Aaron just wants to help, and Lina is not up for it. They argue for the book's first quarter about his little offer before she finally accepts, and then it's smooth sailing. I originally just wanted to reread the football scene and the smut but ended up rereading the whole book because I am just so wholeheartedly in love with Aaron Blackford.

I probably need to stop rereading this book. It's just sooooo good!
