Aether's Guard by Daniel Schinhofen

Some obvious hints, extreme growth, and a cutesy romance
The relations in the first book were funny and ridiculous, and the cutesy romance in this one was both a big difference and had the same frivolous and funny energy. I feel like hints about Darkness and her identity were very obviously mentioned, but our MC can be hilariously dense so that fits. The hints regarding Jenn were also obvious. I'm amused that no one has caught on that they are following not just two paths but all three, and successfully. I have high hopes for this series.
