This series is about soldiers who were wounded in the war and received metal parts which have changes their status from 'human' to 'cyborg' and as such they were treated more like machine then humans on planet Earth and ended up being used to colonies and patrol Mars. It does goes into feeling like yourself despite the fact that you have amputated limbs and into finding yourself among a world that isn't built her you.
This story is an insta-love story where the male characters straight away feel that the female is the person that they are suppose to be with, either because of how they feel about them or because of some internal voice which tells them that this person is the person that they are suppose to be with.

4.5 stars.
I admit, I purchased this novella for the cover and the title. I was not disappointed. The cyborg sheriff is everything a reader could ask for in a romantic cowboy hero, with all the best bits of the protective cyborg. And he's named Clint. The heroine is determined, courageous, and a bit foolhardy, but avoids the TSTL trap. The world building around the tech for a nascent Mars colony is creative and takes only a few (acceptable) liberties with the science of the matter. I would have liked a bit more character development and back story on both MCs, but overall, well done given it's only 56 pages.

I really should stop doubting this author
I will admit this series gave me pause and I have been dancing around it for a while, but I really enjoy this first book so much. The heart that she always puts into her characters was there from the beginning. I adored Clint. The stoic but sweet cowboy cyborg immediately stole my heart and Jo was a great heroine. I’m looking forward to reading more about this world and these cyborgs finding love.

4.2⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️&1🌶️. This was a great fast read. The world building was great for such a short novella, and the imagery of the new settlement on mars was the best combo of sci-fi, space, alien, fantasy and western. It was unlike anything else I have read. I have loved all my reads of honey Phillips so I will deffo read more from her.
