My favorite part of this book isn’t even the Killer Zucchini found in the title but all of the supporting science fair experiments. While they all seem like mad science, in the back of the book, the authors have back matter explaining how each of the science fair experiments are based on real science. For example, even though Killer Zucchinis aren’t real, carnivorous plants are, a laser that erased ink was invented in 1968, and Florida’s Mag Lab can shrink a quarter!

Lots of silly fun. I didn't really understand the point of the killer zucchini though. His role in the story felt kind of secondary to the other crazy science experiments that were being presented at the science fair. Still, it's a run read and worth sharing with students.

This is a great book for kids both interested and reluctant with science! A science fair is organized alphabetically to display kids' goofy and imaginative inventions. Kids will enjoy the humor and parents and teachers can elaborate on the core science concepts introduced in this story.

Super fun STEM read for elementary school kids. Reminds me of some of the wacky Mercer Meyer stuff I used to love, with lots of odd/hilarious details.

ABC books are always (usually) interesting.

I don‰ЫЄt think I‰ЫЄve ever seen one that had science fictions inventions before.

This one is pretty creative. Kind of funny.

But the different inventions are cool. I mean, there‰ЫЄs not much you haven‰ЫЄt heard of, but the placing them in a science fair is pretty genius. (I‰ЫЄm partial to the Quantum Mechanics.)

I‰ЫЄm not sure who this is written to. ABC books are usually for kids learning their ABCs, aren‰ЫЄt they? But this one seems written for elementary school and up.

Either way, I liked it.

And the definitions in the back (of each device or invention) are excellent.

Thanks to NetGalley and Charlesbridge for a copy in return for an honest review.
