I don't know how to rate this. It almost feels like rating a memoir or historical text - it feels almost inappropriate to give it a score.

Obviously it is fiction. I just feel like this is a book to study, ideally alongside a history lesson on the Russian revolution. The further out of school I get the more I miss the opportunity for group discussions and deep reading of texts.

One of those it's a classic for a reason and I understand why its taught in schools.

This may just be me, but this was so intensely depressing that I couldn’t enjoy it. I know that’s the whole point of it, I guess, but to me it hit too close to home with the current political climate.

I didn’t always love reading it, but I’m glad I read it because of all that it made me think about and its impact on culture. Truly an educational novella.
