Fire Weather is a timely piece of research into our relationship with fire, and all the ways we are mentally disconnected from what it truly means. Both riveting and devastating, Vaillant intersperses incredible witness testimony of the 2016 Fort McMurray fire with political history and climate science to create a book that is shocking, scary, and often moving. It has given me so much to think about.

I need to look back on my notes for this book, but I read it incredibly fast because it blew me away. John Vaillant's storytelling is unmatched and paints a horrific but spellbinding picture of the events that unfolded in Fort Mac and elsewhere - as well as the events that will continue to occur as a result of the changing climate.
