The Echo Wife has been my favorite Sarah Gailey book so far, which is saying something. It was my favorite form of fiction, where the emotional arc is deeply entwined with the fantasy or sci Fi elements. It's a story about the ways that abuse both familial and romantic leave deep wounds on the victim that last for the rest of their lives. As with all of Sarah Gailey's books the mechanics of the story are immaculate and the portrait of the main character is painfully human. The past and present are woven together seamlessly with clear threads running between to flesh out a life and the plot is always satisfying and never predictable.

Smart and dark.

This has been on my list for ages. I generally like Sarah Gailey, and while I still think "Just Like Home" is their best work, this was definitely an enjoyable, challenging one. What do you do if your no-good husband cheats on you with a clone OF you? Neat twist on a classic thriller trope.

I'm still not sure how I feel about this book. I didn't hate it, and I didn't love it either... I did really enjoy Evelyn and Martine and their personal development, as well as their interaction with each other

I enjoyed this one a lot. The sort of twist towards the end was good. I liked that Martine had her own identity and thought for herself. I had a feeling that there would be something shady about Seyed. Something just rubbed me wrong about him and she was always speaking so highly of him. This book also brings up the ethical questions of making clones.

I liked it.

It's not quite clear to me what Evelyn's work actually is.  Something with clones, obviously, but it's not clear what the clones are supposed to be for.  Something more than organ donation if bone breaks have to be the same and conditioning is a thing.

It seems to take Martine an extraordinarily long time to figure out that Evelyn would be fine with clones being killed inside a lab setting, and in fact, had done it herself numerous times.  Seeing Martine as an actual person with full autonomy was always going to be incompatible with her worldview that clones were things to be used and discarded.

The ending was inevitable and still chilling.
