This is a very important book that argues that the best and most realizable way to strengthen democracy in the country is to reform the electoral system (how people are voted into office). It’s a very specific argument that is convincingly argued for over the book’s ten chapters by different academics— and I bought into it. The more I read into this country’s history and politics the easier it is to be cynical about whether our defunct systems can be fixed, so it was a breath of fresh air to see an argument that seems quite sound and like I said earlier, realizable. It’s in the pragmatism of its methods that it truly won me over.
