This is the third book in a series but the only one I have read so far after a recommendation from friends. It was an excellent read! I found myself wanting a book about the antagonist next, his “origin story,” perhaps. The other books in the series are about the lawyer protagonist I believe.

Medium pace to this book.
Lots of exciting parts and I was surprised by the ending a little bit.
I loved the story line! It was very creative!

This was such a fun read! I couldn’t stop once I had really gotten into it. There was a lot of potential for the killer to have  a great motive, but ultimately that part fell flat to me (and was a little corny tbh). Otherwise, I really enjoyed this book. I’m excited to read the other book in this series.

I'm a gurly who loves suspense and thrillers and this book was a little too dark for me. I found some of the plot to be a little too unbelievable.

I couldn't put this one down!  Thirteen is a gripping mix of legal drama and psychological suspense with a clever twist
—the killer isn’t on trial; he’s on the jury
. Eddie Flynn, a former con artist turned lawyer, takes on a high-stakes murder case and uncovers a chilling plot led by a truly terrifying antagonist.

The pacing is tight, the courtroom scenes are vivid, and the twists kept me guessing. Eddie Flynn is a flawed but likeable character, and the killer’s perspective adds intrigue and amps up the tension.

I'd recommend this book to fans of Lee Child, Michael Connelly, or Harlan Coben.

Interesting premise, kinda meh execution.  Definitely an easy read that will keep your attention but the ending is lacking for me.

Very dark and very graphic deaths.  This is something I usually don’t like, and didn’t here either - but, I couldn’t put this down.  I had to know what happened next.   I’ll give the author credit, it’s a great story.

How can you have a fair trial when the real killer is actually on the jury? Guess what, you can’t! And since the killer is on the jury, he has a front row seat to tweak the narrative as needed to make sure the defendant goes to jail.

Thirteen is the fourth book in the Eddie Flynn series, but it functioned well as a standalone. I really enjoyed all the twists and turns in this book, however, it is not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach. If you have issues with psycho killers’ POV, breaking bones, or eyeball trauma, I would not recommend this book.

That being said, this book is one of a few I’ve read where the author combines a killer’s point of view with wild twists and turns that keep you guessing until the end, and Steve Cavanagh did a masterful job. This book might be a good read for someone who enjoyed Never Lie by Frieda McFadden, but can stomach police brutality and graphic violence.
