I'm not a big historical fiction fan, but this is a book that goes into just enough detail about the time period. It gives you a very real-feeling picture about a woman's life in 15th century Florence.

This book was written for me. I was absolutely mad for as soon as I started reading it. It is written with beautiful candor. I wish I hadn't read other reviews because now I feel like an idiot that the plot kept me on my toes the whole time. Just when I thought I knew what was coming I was totally wrong in the best way. This might be one of my favorite books of all time. It felt so well researched, a seamless blend of history and fiction. I want to read it again already.

Listened to this on CD. Great story, captivating and loved all the references to art & creativity.

Fluff, such fluff, but rather enjoyable at that. There's just enough historical accuracy to keep my interest, and just enough historical inaccuracy to make it juicy.

Good book. The story is great, but the backdrop is even more interesting. The religious context of the book is what was most interesting to me.
